Chief Richard Caton III

Richard E. Caton III has been a police officer with the Town of Farmington since August 1980.  He is a graduate of the University of Maine at Augusta.  He holds an Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Administration.  In October of 1989 he received a dual promotion to Detective Sergeant where he supervised patrol officers and conducted criminal investigations.  In February 1995 he was promoted to Lieutenant.  His responsibilities as second in command included administrative duties, supervision of patrol supervisors, criminal investigations, OUI roadblocks and to oversee the general operations of the department.  He was promoted to Chief of Police in September 1998 after serving as acting Chief for the previous three months.
