Bridgette Gilbert

In 1995 Bridgette graduated from the 100 hour pre-service Law Enforcement school and in 1996 received certification for Terminal Operator.  She has worked for the Somerset County Sheriff's Dept. as a dispatcher and a reserve deputy.  She then moved on to the Pittsfield Police Dept. as a reserve patrol officer and dispatcher/clerk.  She also worked at the Newport Police Dept. and Madison Police Dept. both doing reserve patrol work.

In 1998 Bridgette graduated from the 86th Municipal/County Basic Police School and continued working for the Pittsfield Police Dept. until July of 2000 after being hired to work for the Farmington Police Dept.

Bridgette undertook the position of School Resource Officer (SRO) in 2005.  The School Resource Officer often represents the front line of juvenile investigation and child protection. The “street level” nature of the position often results in preventing undesirable behavior in the schools and promoting a safe learning environment for the students and staff. The SRO often addresses many community problems related to the behavior of students in and outside of Farmington schools. Fostering communication and understanding between our schools and community reduces community tension and promotes an improved quality of life for the neighboring residents and permits schools to focus on education. Officer Gilbert was chosen the Employee of the Quarter for Spring and Summer 2006, Spring 2008 and for Employee of the Year for 2006.  Our congratulations to Officer Gilbert for these distinctions.
